The IAIN-McGill cooperation under the sponsorship of CIDA has been fruitful, and both institutions have worked hand in hand to give a great contribution to the acadenic discourse at IAIN Yogyakarta, and also indirectly to the development of Indonesian Society. The impacts of this cooperation are not only limited to the academic milieu or elite group at IAIN.

The goals and the implementation of the cooperation reach almost all aspects of the institution. In terms of Islamic and religious studies, library, gender, teaching methods, and even technical matters such as computer programs and administrative skills, both McGill and IAIN have successfully built a strong team to develop humen resources.
Over the past ten years, the elite gropu has enjoyed the cooperation through studying at McGill in MA and Ph.D programs. They then bring back this knowledge and spread it to their students at IAIN. The knowledge that IAIN lecturers have gained from McGill through their academic activities (research, learning, and reading), goes directly to the students in their home institute, IAIN Yogyakarta.
In the future, and starting from now on, the impact of the McGill-IAIN cooperation will be directed more to the grass root level. The affinity of IAIN and grass roots community will be emphasized through the current project, called "IAIN Indonesia Social Equity Project." Three departments, i.e Community development, Library, and Education and Science, produce leaders in the villages of Indonesia, madrasah librarians, and madrasah teachers. Thus, this project will strengthen and empower these three departments in IAIN Yogyakarta, in particular, and hopefully, the project will also indirectly benefit the grass roots level in Indonesian society.
